Whereas the technology level in the original Red Alert had World War II and Cold War-era weapons mixed with a few technologies inspired by failed real-world experiments, the arsenals of both sides in Red Alert 2 predominantly include technologically advanced units and structures such as teleporting Chrono Legionnaires, chain-connecting Prism towers, cloning vats, weather control devices, etc. As is usual, the player joins the Allied or Soviet side in the singleplayer campaign (with 12 missions for each faction) as of that point in the storyline. Soon afterwards, the Soviet Union launches an overwhelming invasion on North America and Europe on land, air, and sea. Fortunately, Albert Einstein has developed a machine to go back in time and uses it to stop Yuri.Although the Western Allies have installed a lackey as the Premier of the Soviet Union, their spies and relevant contacts suddenly go silent with the appearance of a powerful Soviet psychic named Yuri, who turns out to be Premier Romanov's advisor. At the last minute, an airstrike commanded by US President Michael Dugan barely manages to damage the device in San Francisco, allowing some commanders of the US military to escape the mind control. As the Allies were fighting against Romanov’s forces, Yuri, who had betrayed Romanov, was setting up his own army and setting up devices around the globe to mentally control the world’s population – the activation of these devices is imminent. As the Allies celebrate their victory, Romanov’s chief general Yuri is finalizing his plans. Yuri’s revenge begins just after the end of the Soviet-Allied war, starting from the premise that the Allies have already won, and Romanov sits in a London jail cell. The game was developed by Westwood Studios and published by Electronic Arts in October 2001 as part of the Command and Conquer series.
